THE
HATTON 12 GAUGE
AMMUNITION
12 gauge ammunition Hatton rounds should only be used
in Magnum shotguns. Use smooth (unchoked) barrels with a 3" (76mm)
chamber length, nitro-proofed for Magnum loads to a service pressure of
4 tons per square inch (1200 kg. per sq. cm). This ammunition may also
be used in 'sawn-off' shotguns. All cartridge cases are 'see-through'
for identification.
SHOTGUN
Specially developed for use in close-quarter battle situations, the 'Hatton
Round' is designed for effecting entry through doors and similar barriers
by removing hinges, bolts and locks, or even destroying the surrounding woodwork.
In addition to achieving this swiftly and effectively the round ceases to
be a missile on impact - an important consideration where hostages are involved.
The 12-bore cartridge case contains a compound with a high melting point
and low mechanical strength, forming a semi-solid, frangible projectile
weighing approximately 50 grammes.
A direct hit is most effective in removing hinges and similar fixtures.
Being semi-solid and having a degree of plasticity, the Hatton Round
wrenches the hinge from its moorings while at the same time spreading
around the target and causing damage to the surrounding woodwork. Even
a near miss causes enough damage to completely dislocate the hinge,
and the nature of the binder used completely eliminates ricochet or
bounce-back.
The Hatton Round can penetrate cell-type doors, fire doors clad with
thin steel plate on both sides, and bullet-proof 12mm thick Makralon,
and it will destroy armoured glass from a range of 1.5 metres. It is
also ideal for puncturing tyres, through the wall or tread, and should
a miss occur it will break up on contact with the road surface.
