THE
MAGNETS
HANDFAST
Already renowned worldwide for its enforced entry equipment, Clucas MOE Ltd has
now extended its product range with the Handfast Magnets - a simple yet effective unit
which offers a means of access to seagoing vessels in response to incidents such as piracy
and hostage-taking.
Each set of Handfast Magnets comprises two magnetic plates, onto which are clipped
Kevlar ropes that pass through a stainless steel 'D' ring attached to a chest harness,
and terminate in a pair of foot stirrups. Each of the magnetic plates features six magnets
and an arrangement of wheels controlled by the plate's moving handle, which allows the plate
to move smoothly across the metal surface. As the right-hand plate moves upwards, the
climber's right leg is drawn up by the rising stirrup, and similarly with the left-hand plate.
The result is the stable, secure and controlled ascent that is vital in security operations.
When the moving handles are released, the magnets remain firmly clamped to the metal surface,
leaving the climber suspended safely, and with his hands free to deploy a weapon if necessary.
Handfast Magnets can be used to scale the hull of a vessel at any point, even where this
involves negotiating sections at a depressed angle. Manufactured in stainless steel,
weighing approximately 10lbs and capable of supporting in excess of 200lbs, the
Handfast Magnets are an invaluable addition to the access armoury of military and
law enforcement organisations.
